ABOUT US
DCHA Mission Statement -- 2/10/2001 The mission of DCHA is to unite, promote, educate and enhance the growth of the horse industry and horse recreation as an all-breed equine association. Our activities include involvement in trail riding, horse shows, educational seminars, clinics, tourism promotion, and other horse related functions. As partners in our community and with respect for environmental concerns, DCHA is committed to the preservation and promotion of trail systems for all recreational use. R.E.I.N.S. R.E.I.N.S. stands for Regional Equine Information Network System R.E.I.N.S. serves through North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Volunteers work with organizations and promote the educational equine clinics, events, programs for equine folks. Carl McKnight is the person you can check with for R.E.I.N.S in our area.
Who Should Join? Horse owners, and those who do not yet own a horse, are encouraged and welcome to join our club. It is hoped that the educational programs and the sharing of knowledge and experience with other horse lovers will promote confidence and safe handling by owners and would-be horse owners. Many of our members are professional breeders and trainers, owners of tack stores, boarding facilities, and even equine veterinarians; but most of our members are single horse owners who enjoy trail riding and learning more about their horses. Please Join Us!! To become a member and begin receiving your newsletter you may either attend the next regular DCHA/REINS meeting (see Calendar of Events) and pay the dues, or go to Join Our Club and print the application and mail it along with a check for the dues to the address on the form.
DCHA/REINS was founded to promote the education, community service, and social activities of horse lovers in Davidson and surrounding counties. The club meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Davidson County Agricultural Building. However, we do not hold monthly meetings during the summer months of June, July and August. Meetings resume in September. Most meetings will feature a speaker on a horse related topic, and the opportunity to visit with the speaker and other club members. Yearly projects include our two annual FUN shows (usually in July and November). Activities include scheduled trail rides to interesting places so members and their friends can safely ride in a group. Some of these rides are day outings hosted by club members, while others are weekend trips to various locations. Other outings to horse related events, clinics and farms are scheduled as they come along and can be viewed on our Calendar of Events. We enjoy two SOCIALS a year, one at the end of May before summer vacations begin and one in December for Christmas. We encourage anyone with a love for horses to join us!
